The problem: odour as a quality barrier in recycling

Recycling is essential to a sustainable plastics economy, yet post-consumer recyclate often comes with one decisive drawback: strong residual odours. These arise from traces of the original use (detergents, food, cleaning agents) and remain in the material even after multiple cleaning steps.

The consequence: many high-quality recyclates are excluded from certain applications, not for mechanical reasons, but due to their odour. Especially in food contact, consumer goods or indoor uses, odour neutrality is a basic requirement.

The solution: integration instead of masking

BIOAFFIN KAD is the advanced solution for effective odour neutralisation in the processing of recycled plastics. It works on a different principle from conventional masking agents: instead of covering unpleasant odours with perfume, BIOAFFIN KAD binds odour molecules chemically, permanently and without residue.

The active substance fully integrates into the polymer matrix of the recyclate. Mechanical and thermal properties remain almost unchanged, the material loses nothing of its processability or performance.

100% natural raw material

BIOAFFIN KAD is based entirely on a natural raw material, no synthetic fragrances, no chemical auxiliaries that would disturb the recycling cycle. The additive is food-contact approved and can therefore also be used where direct food contact is possible.

Thanks to its natural basis, the treated recyclate remains recyclable, downstream cycles are not affected.
