comp I verde, The home compostable bioplastic with soil-enriching effect
More than just biodegradable
With the increasing regulation of single-use plastics and growing awareness of microplastics, demand for genuine alternatives is rising. comp I verde is a state-of-the-art, home compostable and biodegradable compound that combines environmental compatibility with high performance.
What sets comp I verde apart from many bioplastics: it actively enriches the soil after decomposition. The minerals contained in the material are released during the breakdown process and improve the water absorption of the soil, a positive cycle rather than mere damage mitigation.
Documented degradation study per ÖNORM EN 13432:2008
The performance of comp I verde is not only claimed but documented. In a flower-pot trial under real home composting conditions, a 38-gram pot with a wall thickness of approx. 1 mm was used. Result after 28 days: 97% degradation, verified by an independent institute following the ÖNORM EN 13432:2008 methodology.
This goes beyond the minimum requirements of industrially compostable materials: degradation takes place under mild conditions, no industrial compost, no controlled high-temperature facility.
Four properties that make the difference
- Rapid degradation on soil contact: as soon as soil bacteria are active, decomposition begins, not before.
- Bio-based & home compostable: 100% from natural raw materials, decomposable in your own compost.
- Soil-enriching: released minerals improve soil structure and water absorption.
- Material properties retained: no premature decomposition, the material stays robust until the end of its useful life.
Which applications fit comp I verde?
comp I verde is suitable for all applications where plastic should return to nature or compost after use. It has proven itself for:
- Flower pots and plant clips in gardening
- Single-use packaging and food-service items
- Mulch films and aids in agriculture
- Single-use tableware and cutlery
Compatible with your existing production
Switching to comp I verde requires no new machinery. The compound is compatible with all common plastics processing technologies, injection moulding, thermoforming and extrusion. Processors can continue using their existing equipment without retooling costs.
