Bioplastic in industrial production, injection moulding, thermoforming and extrusion
The most common concern when switching to bioplastic
When plastics processors think about switching to sustainable materials, the most common question is: do I need to buy new machines? The good news: with comp I verde, the answer is no. The compound was developed to run on existing standard processing equipment, without retooling, without additional investment.
Injection moulding with comp I verde
Injection moulding is the most widely used processing technology in the plastics industry. comp I verde behaves like a conventional thermoplastic during injection moulding. Tool temperatures, injection speeds and cooling times may need to be slightly adjusted, fundamental process changes are not required.
Typical injection-moulding applications for comp I verde include flower pots, single-use tableware, packaging parts and small technical components with defined service life.
Thermoforming
For sheet-like products such as trays, shells and blister packs, thermoforming is the most economical processing method. comp I verde can be extruded into semi-finished products and then further processed by thermoforming. The sheets show good formability and sufficient stability for typical packaging applications.
Extrusion
In extrusion, comp I verde is used to produce profiles, films and tubes. Extrusion is particularly relevant for agricultural applications such as mulch films or single-use binding twines. The extruded products show the mechanical resilience needed for the application and only start decomposing on soil contact.
